The model aims to ensure protection of rights, interests and freedoms of juveniles in criminal proceedings, whether they are defendants, witnesses and victims.
UJJRP works with local courts in its pilot cities to implement guidelines that augment existing trial procedures in areas that are not regulated by the Criminal Procedure Code.
Such procedures include:
- Limited Public Access to Court Hearings involve Minors
- Child-Friendly Court Sessions and Questioning
- Age-Appropriate Language
- Notification of the Right to Enter into Reconciliation Agreement
- Effective Participation of Parents (Guardians) in Criminal Proceedings
